Nigeria Football Federation has officially appointed German coach, Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s Senior Men’s National Football Team.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, confirmed early Tuesday that the Executive Committee approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee to hire Labbadia.
Born in Darmstadt, Germany, on February 8, 1966, Labbadia had a notable playing career, including stints at Darmstadt 98, Hamburger SV, FC Kaiserslautern, and Bayern Munich, where he won the German Bundesliga title in 1994.
His coaching career has seen him manage well-known clubs such as Hertha Berlin and VfB Stuttgart, as well as VfL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV, and Bayer Leverkusen.
Labbadia becomes only the sixth German to lead the Super Eagles.
His immediate task will be to guide the team through two crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic on 7th September in Uyo and against Rwanda on 10th September in Kigali.
