Officials on Thursday said the number of casualties from the bomb that tore through minibuses and a mosque in Afghanistan has risen to at least 16 bodies, with the Islamic State group claiming responsibility for the attack.
On Wednesday, officials said at least 10 people died and 15 were wounded from the three bombs that exploded from separate minibuses in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
Head of Balkh health department, Najibullah Tawana, said three women were among the 10 killed in the explosion.
However, the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the minibus attacks, hours after the blasts, disclosing on Telegram that its “soldiers” were behind the three bombings.
