The Catalan giants will remain at the Camp Nou for the 2022/2023 season but will take temporary shelter at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys the following season.
The Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys which hosted the Olympic Games in 1992, was formerly the home of Espanyol and is the largest stadium in Spain, boasting a seating capacity of 60,713.
The renovation of Camp Nou will see the capacity increase from its current 99,000 to 110,000, making it the third-largest stadium in the world.
Part of the reconstruction involves constructing a roof to increase sustainability by utlilising a heating and cooling system.
Confirming the decision, Barcelona’s President Joan Laporta said: “FC Barcelona will have the privilege to play at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in the 2023/2024 season during the recently-approved Espai Barca work.”
