ARMED FORCES RESOLVE TO PRESS ON DESPITE LOSS OF CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF

Date:

The Nigerian Armed Forces have reaffirmed their commitment to the fight against terrorism, undeterred by the tragic loss of Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, emphasized this determination during a recent military briefing, which provided updates on ongoing operations across all theaters.

Honoring the late General Lagbaja, Major General Buba led a minute of silence before delivering key operational updates. Despite the challenging loss, he underscored that the military’s resolve remains unshaken in its mission to contain terrorist threats and secure national stability.

In October 2024, troops achieved significant success, neutralizing over 400 terrorists, arresting more than 700 suspects, and rescuing over 400 kidnap victims. Defence Headquarters has also declared nine terrorists from the Northeast wanted, urging public cooperation in identifying these individuals.

Military high command reiterated its unwavering commitment to national security and called for continued public support to ensure victory in the fight against terrorism.
