The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has suspended former Member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Shehu Koko, alongside nine party officials from Koko Local Government Area over alleged anti-party conduct.
The suspension, confirmed through an official letter, cited disloyalty, engagement in anti-party activities, and the harassment of party executives as reasons for the disciplinary action.
Among the affected party members are Muhammad Danyado, APC Vice Chairman for Koko LGA; Biyaminu Muhammad, Secretary; and Talatu Zauro, Women Leader. Others include the Youth Leader, Financial Secretary, and Welfare Secretary of the party in the local government.
The letter, obtained from party sources, was signed by APC Local Government Party Chairman, Muhammad Maibarga; Koko LGA Executive Chairman, Sirajo Usman Koko; and 14 other party stakeholders.
Speculations Over Political Ambitions
Though no official response has been issued by Muhammad Shehu Koko, close allies who spoke off the record suggested that his suspension may be politically motivated, allegedly linked to his reported interest in contesting a senatorial seat in the upcoming elections.
They hinted that his ambition may have unsettled certain political figures within the party structure in the state.
As of the time of reporting, the state chapter of the APC has not released a formal statement beyond the local government’s communication.
The development underscores growing internal tensions within the party in Kebbi State as political alignments continue to shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
