AKWA IBOM GOVERNMENT SET TO INTERVENE ON AKON ITAM AXIS OF CALABAR-ITU HIGHWAY EROSION SITES.

The Akwa Ibom State Government is set to intervene on two gully erosion sites which are threatening Akon Itam axis of Calabar-Itu highway.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Charles Udoh when he spoke with our correspondent, Enyene Vincent in his office in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

The Commissioner said the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has awarded contract for intervention measures to be carried out at those sites.

On tackling the perennial flooding along IBB way, the commissioner said the project which started in October 2020 is near completion stage.

The environment boss also stated that work is ongoing at three different erosion sites which has cut of Ikpa road and Uyo village road axis of Calabar-Itu highway.

He also promised that these interventions will be completed soon.
