Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Speaker, Udeme Otong has directed the committee on boundary and conflict resolution to investigate the lingering boundary clash between Ibiono Ibom local government area, Arochukwu in Abia State, and Ito in Cross River State.
The speaker gave the directive during plenary on Tuesday, following the dispute motion raised by a member representing the Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, Moses Essien.
The member representing Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, Moses Essien, explained that Ikpanya Clan in Ibiono Ibom local government area has experienced an endless clash between residents of the community and residents of Arochukwu and Ito in Abia and Cross River State respectively.
Essien hinted that the dispute has claimed the lives of some Ibiono Ibom residents while calling on the house committee on boundary and conflict resolution matters to intervene.
The Speaker of the House, Udeme Otong further directed the house committee on boundary and conflict resolution, chaired by the Member Representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency, Precious Salong to investigate the matter and report back to the house in two weeks.
