A three-storey commercial building has collapsed in the Wuse Zone 4 area of Abuja, prompting an emergency response by relevant authorities.
The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department, FEMD, says it received a distress call about the incident at about 7:20 p.m. on Monday and immediately deployed emergency responders to the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, no casualties have been reported so far, while search and rescue operations are ongoing.
FEMD says it is awaiting the arrival of an excavator to support rescue efforts and enable a thorough search of the debris.
The cause of the collapse and the number of people who may have been affected have not yet been determined.
Authorities have urged members of the public to remain calm and stay away from the area to allow emergency and security personnel unrestricted access to the scene.
Investigations and rescue operations are continuing.
