Minister of Works David Umahi has defended the Federal Government’s economic strategy, saying investing in critical infrastructure is more beneficial than saving funds while the country’s development needs remain unmet.
Speaking during an inspection of the Calabar to Abuja Super Highway, Umahi said infrastructure development is essential to driving economic growth, improving connectivity and increasing national productivity.
He stated that the Tinubu administration inherited a deteriorating road network but has prioritised the rehabilitation and construction of major roads across the country.
The minister also said the ongoing Calabar to Abuja Super Highway will significantly reduce travel time between the South South, South East and the Federal Capital Territory while boosting trade and economic activities.
Umahi urged communities along the project corridor to continue supporting the construction, describing the investments as critical to Nigeria’s long-term economic transformation.
