The service chiefs that President Bola Tinubu recently appointed have had their appointments approved by the House of Representatives.
Their ratification came after the House ad hoc committee’s screening report was approved.
Chief of Defence Staff Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and Chief of Air Staff AVM Hassan Abubakar are the service chiefs that have been officially announced.
Days after the red chamber approved the nomination of the military chiefs, the green chamber started reviewing the service chiefs on Monday.
Julius Ihonvbere, the majority leader of the House, served as chairman of the screening committee.
Members of the armed forces must fully abide by the terms of the Appropriations Act, according to Babajimi Benson, chairman of the House Adhoc Committee. He also asked them to cooperate by sharing intelligence.
If the service chiefs are confirmed, the National Assembly would examine their performance, he had also stated.
Exactly three weeks after his inauguration, on June 19, 2023, the President named the new service chiefs.
